Thank you Ursule!
Human Racer of the Month for September 2013 is Ursule Thurnherr who, along with an extremely supportive family, took part in Cycletta Bedfordshire.
3 years ago Ursule was diagnosed with breast cancer but after successful chemotherapy treatment she was able to regain some of her physical strength and took up cycling. "It was really touch and go for me with a tumour being discovered at the last moment. I took up cycling to chase away all my negative thoughts and my daughter, Catherine, followed suit and took up cycling too." Ursule explained.
This year Ursule and her family decided that all three generations, Ursule's daughter Catherine, her granddaughter Carla and herself, would take part in Cycletta Bedfordshire held at Woburn Abbey.
Ursule also cycled from London to Paris last year to raise money for Women + Health and hopes that her experiences can provide inspiration for other cancer sufferers. As with so many of our participants, Human Race is extremely proud of Ursule for what she has achieved under such challenging circumstances and we hope to see her and her family again at future events.
"Ursule's achievements are an inspiration to us all. Congratulations on being Cycletta Human Racer of the Month"
From Tessa Jowell MP, Patron of Women + Health
The Cycletta series heads north of the border on 15th September to Scone Palace near Perth, Scotland, before the final two events of the year in Brighton on 26th September and the New Forest on 13th October. It's been a fantastic year for Cycletta so far and we hope to see even more women out on their bikes at our remaining 3 events.
The Whole Foods Market WomenOnly Run concludes the Human Race WomenOnly series on 19th October in leafy Richmond Park.
